Happy Sunday Funday everyone. There’s always tons to do on a Sunday in sunny San Diego and today it looks like the Gale Force/OB Rocks crew will be joining up with the Fort1e Apparel guys for some food and football at Gallagher’s Irish Pub for the 49’ers and Chargers game today! We had a great weekend of music as The Gale Force/ OB Rocks crew made the rounds in Ocean Beach this weekend. Here’s what we are up to today and a quick rundown of the bands and bars we visited over the weekend. Today’s blog post is sponsored by Pabst Blue Ribbon and FORT1e Apparel
So it’s Sunday Funday and you’re looking for a place to watch the game? Come join us at Gallagher’s Irish pub on Newport ave. Every Sunday during football season Gally’s is having a cooking contest and you get to eat FREE FOOD! The Gale Force Team will be competing in December and we would like your vote for a shot at winning $1000 so be sure to stay tuned for our menu and date! GO CHARGERS!!!!
Friday night was our usual Gale Force Famous Vodka Friday and it was also National Vodka day and the Famous was flowing for sure!! Our guests at Mother’s Saloon was the Cougar Canyon Band and I’ll have to day that they were not bad for a newly formed group and look forward to hearing and seeing them progress as they get a few more gigs under their belts together. Mike Brant and I took a quick trip Down to the Shakedown Bar for a quick drink just to say hello. It was my first time back to the Shakedown since the new ownership and remodel. They did a great job in cleaning the place up and moving the stage to the back of the bar was a great move that makes a lot more space too. We look forward to the helping out at Shakedown in the near future.
Winston’s had a great Talking Heads cover band called the Naive Melodies and they were just freaking awesome!! Ted Wiggler does one helluva great job at keeping this long standing night club jumping!
Last night was epic as OB was jumpin big!! We took a shot at the quadruple and were able to make the rounds but missed James Deans & Destructo Bunny but at least I got a chance to ham it up with him a bit!
James Deans and Gale Hopping last call!
After a quick pregame with Melissa and Brian, Bilge B Bilge and I rolled out with our small crew to Mother’s Saloon to catch some So Cal Vibes! Adam Bausch and crew NEVER disappoint in the local Reggae scene. Then we rolled a few blocks down the street to Lucy’s Tavern to catch Mark Morante and Chill Clinton mix it up although Lucy’s is kinda small, it has been nice to see some great local acts playing there since the acquired their cabaret license. Gale Force will be having Chill Clinton back to play again at Mother’s after the first of the year so stay tuned for dates!!
After a few tunes and a couple of PBR’s we rolled up Bacon St. to Winston’s to try and catch the last of Tommy Dubs and Mel C from Piracy Conspiracy opening up for Beyond Eye Sight with Gonzo but just missed their last song. It’s always good to mix it up with T-Dub and we are happy to announce that Piracy Conspiracy and DJ Carlos Culture will be joining us at Mother’s Saloon for our 1/2 way to Halloween show on Friday October 18th. Beyond Eye Sight killed it as usual and it’s cool to see Ryan Gonzo making some big moves here in Southern California.
Gale Force and Mother’s Saloon will be having our Halloween party on Friday November 1st and will also be having the Mother’s 2 year anniversary party so be sure to catch the free food and think of a good costume for a shot at $100 first prize! The Brother’s Gow will be playing for us for the Halloween party so the house will surely be packed..plan on getting there early 🙂
Gale Force Productions is also very happy to announce that our New Years Eve Show at Mother’s Saloon will feature the amazing up and coming local band Hirie! Gale Force Productions got our first look at Hirie during the video shoot of “Sensi Boy” featuring EN Young of Tribals Seeds. If you look real close you can see my ugly mug in one of the background shots :). It was my first time on set for a music video. My good friend Greg Cryns joined up with Hirie a few months back and I am really exited for him and the rest of the group as they get ready to hit the road with Tribal Seeds and Fortunate Youth. You can help support Hirie in their rise by visiting and contributing to their Kisckstarter Campaign simply click on the photo below for the link.
Hirie cracks Billboard Chart!!
HAWAIIAN singer/songwriter Hirie has entered the Billboard Reggae Album chart with her self-titled debut album, a joint release by Roots Musician Records and VPAL. The 17-song album is a blend of Pacific island roots-reggae and pop. It comes in at number nine on the Billboard reggae table and peaked at number four on the iTunes reggae chart.
