Did you know that we do local album reviews and CD release parties? Check out our review of the last No Kings Album Lowlifes & High Rollers and then check out some NEW MUSIC in a new video shot by your’s truly.
No Kings is playing for their third time in our marquee show: 5th Annual -Mother’s Saloon: 420/Earth Day Jam & Bacon Wrapped Jalapeno Eating Contest.
We caught up with No Kings recently for quick interview.
Gale: Hey Matt, How ya been, what’s No Kings up to these days?
Matt: We’re doing great! Our debut album is out now and doing well, and we’ve just playing shows shows shows, looking to put out a video in the next couple of months and maybe a single in the summer. Keeping it moving, getting the word out there!
Gale: Any high lights on the year so far?
Matt: Hard to pin down just one, our shows are always a party, but the crowd surfing and general mayhem of our last show at Mother’s definitely sticks out as a highlight and of course our annual participation in Gale’s 420/Earth Day extravaganza is a guaranteed good time.
Gale: How’s your summer stacking up?
Matt: It’s looking good, we’ve got some big shows coming up getting us out of San Diego. Always looking for more, hoping to play the Ob Street Fair, trying to hit that festival circuit. Just missed the Coachella cut off, thought that call was coming for sure! haha.
Gale: Who are you guys listening to these days?
Matt: Locally, it’s always Mochilero All-Stars, and I know Kng Mkr has an album in the works I’m excited to hear. There’s a ton of good bands doing work in San Diego. World wide wise I’ve been on a Surf Coasters kick.
Gale: Those guys are awesome!! The Japanese Surf Band that played with surf music legend and “King of the Surf Guitar”, Dick Dale, who was on his first tour of Japan. Reportedly, after the tour Dale referred to Naka as the “Prince of the Surf Guitar.” How did you get into these guys?
Matt: Haha I heard that there was a surf rock sub culture in Japan, and they are one of the few Japanese surf bands that comes over to the US from time to time, and their mix psychedelia and surf rock is so cool!
Gale: Matt as always I look forward to your high energy shows… especially when it’s one of my own shows and as you know. Even if it’s now my show. If you are playing in the LOCAL 1052 then I’m almost always there. See you all on Friday the 22nd.
Check out this new video shot by your’s truly in my own Guerrilla Marketing fashion just last a few weeks ago down the street at Lucy’s Tavern. Thank you for using Gale Force.
